Ionian (Major)

1 – 2 – 3 – 4 – 5 – 6 – 7 — the parent major scale, twelve keys

Ionian is the major scale — the parent of the diatonic system. Seven notes (1 2 3 4 5 6 7), arranged in the pattern whole-whole-half-whole-whole-whole-half. Every other diatonic mode is a rotation of this scale.

Used over Imaj7 chords as the default "home key" scale. The brightest, most stable, most consonant of the modes — the one all other modes are measured against.

Now 2 octaves, both hands — the same pattern extended up and back with fingering marked above every note in each hand.

Intervals

1 – 2 – 3 – 4 – 5 – 6 – 7. Major scale, no alterations.
