Mixolydian Mode

Mixolydian is the 5th mode of major — the major scale with a ♭7. C mixolydian: C D E F G A B♭ C. The flatted 7 turns the tonic chord from a maj7 into a dom7, making this scale the natural fit for any V7 chord in functional harmony.

Used over dominant 7 chords (especially V7 resolving to I) and as the home scale of major-key blues. The 3 keeps the dominant function; the ♭7 keeps it pulling toward resolution. Every blues I7 — even though it's a tonic — uses this scale.
